How long have you been in education and what positions have you had?
I have been in education for 17 years as a teacher, instructional coach, early literacy lead, and a director of curriculum and professional development.
What would you tell a person new to this job?
Don't be afraid to ask questions! Make lots of connections with colleagues in other districts, so that you have support to go to when you have questions. Everyone I have met is so friendly and always willing to help! I have learned alot from talking to other districts and seeing their processes.
What is the most unexpected challenge you have faced in this role?
Our district is launching a warehouse and inventory system for next year. I am excited, but it is definitely alot of work and there is alot to learn! The December conference gave me alot of ideas and information to help with the process of getting everything going.
What is one skill you would love to learn and why?
This doesn't have anything to do with my role, but I would love to learn to speak another language. Maybe French or Italian. It would also be a good reason to go visit Europe.
