March 2026 - Desiree Lavigne

How long have you been in education and what positions have you had? After being a stay-at-home mom for 8 years I began working in education a little over a year ago. I started with Grapevine-Colleyville ISD as an Administrative Assistant for the Extended Day Program and in July of 2025 I began my role as Instructional Materials Clerk. I am excited to be transitioning again to be Instructional Materials Coordinator and Administrative Assistant to the Advanced Academics and Science Departments.
What would you tell a person new to this job?
Expect the unexpected and be flexible. This role is hard work, but it is extremely satisfying knowing that YOU are the entire reason the students in your district have the materials they need in order to learn, thrive and grow.
What is the most unexpected challenge you have faced in this role?
It is A LOT of information, and all of that information is important. It’s not just a matter of creating a PO and books just show up. There is a lot of planning, coordination and logistics that goes into this role.
What is one skill you would love to learn and why?
It has absolutely nothing to do with my professional role, but calligraphy and ASL are definite bucket list items for me.
